The Arden

The Arden is an affordable housing project with the dynamic presence of a mixed-use, market rate condominium. Set in a mixed commercial/residential neighborhood in Alexandria, VA, it has the unique blend of an urban infill, mixed-use project along its primary access, Huntington Avenue, while transitioning into residentially-scaled façade emulating existing rowhomes along Biscayne and Glendale Terrace where existing single-family homes are prevalent. The construction consists of 126 dwelling units with amenity spaces and a 7,500 SF commercial office space, all crafted into a steeply sloped one acre site. A well appointed exterior courtyard provides an exciting outdoor experience while also serving as stormwater management area.  The Arden was granted 9% and 4% tax credit through VHDA's LIHTC program and was designed to meet the requirements of EarthCraft Gold. The resident benefits will include energy efficient wall construction, heating, cooling and ventilation systems, windows and sustainable materials.
