Heffner Architects, P.C. began in 1989 by James C. Heffner, III its original principal and manager. The firm is led by James C. Heffner, III, who came to the Washington Metropolitan area 35 years ago to design the Mid-Atlantic multi-family projects of Oxford Development Corporation.  Since that time, he has designed housing valued at over $1 Billion in construction volume with individual projects ranging from $4 million to $100 million.  Project locations extend from Florida to Connecticut, and westward into the Ohio Valley and Northwest Coast.

 

Historically, the firm has specialized in mixed use and housing of all types, including apartments, condos, detached single family, townhouses and retirement communities.  We have designed projects totaling over 20,000 units in the last ten years.  Over the years, we have expanded and diversified our practice to include mixed-use, resort communities, educational, institutional and commercial developments such as housing / retail mixed use, schools, group homes, office buildings, adaptive re-use, interiors and commercial renovation. Through our talented and diversified staff, we can provide our clients with a full range of services.  These services include programming, predesign planning, architecture, land planning, space planning, and interior design.  We routinely assist our clients with concept preparations and presentations for re-zoning efforts and lender loan packages, utilizing our 25 years of Computer Assisted Design (CADD) experience, our hand-drawn graphic presentations and our BIM technical abilities to our client’s benefit.
